Sylvia Lippe joined the Cypress Art League sometime in the 1980’s. She held several positions on the board and as Publicity Chair, she forged our long-standing relationship with The Event Newspaper.
Sylvia first began working in oils, her later works were mostly watercolor and liquid acrylic and she also occasionally worked in photography. She also participated in the Los Alamitos Art Guild and other artist groups in the surrounding cities.
Sylvia bravely fought bone cancer for many years until finally losing her battle in 2003.
Her legacy at the Cypress Art League lives on in the form of the Sylvia Lippe Memorial Best of Show Award, given twice yearly at CAL shows and sponsored by the Event Newspaper.
